This policy describes how Gloaming, the camera app for iPhone and iPad, and this website handle information. Gloaming is developed by Asanaalyev Zhumabai.
Summary
Gloaming does not require an account. Your photographs and Cinema clips are stored by the app on your device, and we do not receive them. The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking software. Purchases are handled by Apple. The sections below explain each of these in full.
Your Gloaming Library
Photographs and Cinema clips you take with Gloaming are kept in the Gloaming Library, the app’s own storage on your iPhone or iPad. They are not uploaded to us or to any service we operate. Gloaming has no servers that receive your media.
Gloaming also keeps its settings on your device, such as your camera choices, video frame rate, Mirror Front Camera and Save Location. These are not sent to us.
Device backups you choose to make may include app data, depending on your device settings. Backups are handled by Apple or the provider you choose, under their terms.
Camera
Gloaming asks for access to the camera to take photographs and record Cinema clips. Images from the camera are processed on your device.
Microphone
Gloaming asks for access to the microphone to record sound with Cinema clips. The microphone is used only while Cinema is recording. It is not used for photographs.
Photos
Gloaming adds photographs and clips to Apple Photos only when you choose Save to Photos. iOS and iPadOS ask you to allow Photos access the first time you do this. Gloaming uses this access to add the items you save and to check whether items it saved earlier are still there, so it can show you what is already saved. This check happens on your device. It does not read, upload or analyse anything else in your photo library. If you choose Limited Access, saving still works, but some Photos-related features may not work as intended. For example, Gloaming may not be able to verify whether every item it previously saved is still present in Photos.
Once saved, items are part of your photo library and are handled by Apple Photos and, if you use it, iCloud Photos, under Apple’s terms.
Sharing
When you use Share, Gloaming hands a copy of the selected items to the system share sheet. Where they go from there is your choice and is governed by the app or service you pick.
Location
Save Location is off by default. If you turn it on, you are asked to allow Location access. While Save Location is on and Gloaming is open, Gloaming reads your location and adds it to the photographs and Cinema clips you take: in each item’s metadata and in its record in the Gloaming Library. Your location is not sent to us.
Gloaming does not keep a location history. Location is stored only inside the individual photographs and clips you take, and stays with them when you save or share them. You can turn Save Location off at any time in Gloaming’s Settings.
Changing permissions
You can allow or revoke Camera, Microphone, Photos and Location access at any time in the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad: open Settings, scroll to Gloaming and change each permission. Gloaming’s own Settings also link to this page.
Gloaming Pro and purchases
Gloaming Pro is an auto-renewable subscription sold through Apple’s App Store and processed with Apple’s StoreKit. Apple handles payment, billing, renewals, refunds and your Apple Account. We do not receive your payment card details.
To know whether Gloaming Pro is active, the app asks StoreKit on your device for your current purchases. Apple provides us with sales and subscription reports in App Store Connect; these do not include your name, email address or payment details. Apple’s handling of your information is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Accounts, advertising and analytics
Gloaming does not require you to create an account with us. The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking software, and it does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not operate an advertising network or a behavioural advertising system, and we do not sell personal information.
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with crash reports and aggregated usage information through App Store Connect, under Apple’s terms.
This website
Like any website, gloaming.my relies on a hosting and security provider to deliver and protect the site. When you visit, that provider processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested.
This website uses no analytics, advertising or marketing cookies, and sets no cookies of its own. Our hosting provider may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from abuse.
Support correspondence
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, such as screenshots, your app version and device model. We use this only to help you and to improve Gloaming, and keep it only as long as needed for that. Messages are stored by our email service provider on our behalf.
Keeping and deleting your information
Photographs and clips stay in the Gloaming Library until you delete them in the app or delete Gloaming. Deleting Gloaming from your device deletes the Gloaming Library and everything in it, so save anything you want to keep to Photos first. Items already saved to Photos are not affected.
To have your support correspondence deleted, email support@gloaming.my from the address you used and ask us to delete it. We will delete those messages and confirm by reply.
Changes to this policy
If Gloaming changes in a way that affects this policy, for example by adding an online feature, we will update this page before the change is released and revise the date above.
